Description

Le triptyque migratoire, presentation of three pieces of Théâtre Humain / Kevin McCoy: Ailleurs, Norge, and finally, Le devisement du monde.

October 1996 – a suitcase in hand and two words of French in his mouth (hello and thank you), Kevin McCoy leaves Chicago to live in the city of Quebec. He is 33 years old and in love. The shock is great: learning a new language, the snow that keeps falling, searching for work, discovering another culture…

Inspired by his experiences as an immigrant and enriched by his encounters, he creates. First the play Elsewhere, then Norge, and finally, the Mapping of the World. The migratory triptych is the theatrical fresco that emanates from these three combined performances. Three scenes on interconnected themes: immigration, identity, and encounter. Three specific chapters in Kevin’s life: his application for Canadian permanent residence, his quest for his Norwegian origins, and the death of his father.

Throughout his journey, he seeks a broader meaning in life, a more human vision of the world. With these creations, he aims to question, provoke dialogue, and build bridges by highlighting what sets us apart, but above all, what unites us as human beings.
